How do we get others excited about Web 2.0 / 3.0 possibilities

We've created a wiki for our newly formed library service however only 3 of the 8 staff regularly look at the site. The other claimed that its to do with a time factor eg they don't have time to do "non work" items and rely on the regular users to tell them whats happening. We've tried to use the wiki for everything, procedure file, brochure file, Professional development info as well as social things. Does anybody else have any ideas? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Explain to the non-users that the wiki is part of their work just as reading emails is part of their work. The wiki contains your procedures, important brochures and information essential to keep updated.

Hi Nickilah , I agree with Mary, may also make time for it... ie create a space in teh day (rostered) to enable this to happen - include the following to reinforce &/or assist:

1. Buddy up the ones that are into & the ones that are not
2 .Maybe change the way you communicate processy type stuff to a wiki... make it a integral part of there day.. particpative development of programming across multiple shifts...
Use it to build your Christmas party invite ideas generation, feedback & infor on teh venue/menu ... how to get there.... possibilities are endless

make it real... for them

Great ideas Dave - particularly like the rostered time slot and the buddy system! Do you find this valuable?

I've also approached it as "this is much more efficient than emails" in that the information is there permanently and doesn't have to be stored in your inbox (ours is very tightly restricted) and is searchable using the wiki search engine. We are working on getting over 360 staff involved with our wiki to ease up the strain on email - cos I know my email is ALWAYS at capacity. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
